Welcome and Council Update (M. Cruickshank)

  • New Movie Night volunteer needed.  Alana offered to partner with a teacher to organize. FB ad required to recruit

  • No new requests for funding yet from teachers. Science equipment, PE equipment hasn’t been requested yet.

  • We had budgeted for a Kindergarten field trip. The Little Red Theatre to come instead.

Ward 7 Update

  • Parent Census has been sent home. Very important for parents to fill out.

    • Alana started a Garden Twitter account.

Principal’s Report

  • Numbers for class allocation are out.

    • Kindergarten numbers are low. Will lose a kindergarten teacher, most likely.

  • This year, a large number of Grade 3s moving to Extended French at Fern. Some discussion around this.

  • Q: Did the recent boundary change cause these lower numbers? Will the school eventually close? A: It’s difficult to say, and not certain at this time.

  • Discussed possible class models for 2017-18

  • Alana invited council members to have a go with models, if anyone is interested.

Fun Fair Kick-off (M. Cruickshank)

Introductions

  • Most of the roles are filled but need someone to take on prizes for games.

  • Eli needs volunteer for cotton candy/popcorn

Food and BBQ (E. Klein)

  • Question remains of whether to ask Barque to donate again.

Silent Auction (S. Clark)

  • Where to locate it? Gym? Discussion around whether to invest in pipe and drape. Sarb to investigate further.

  • Volunteers: Will need 2 in there all day, and 3 at end of day to organize prizes.

Mystery Bags (S. Nagra)

  • Sarb to organize

Face Painting

  • Tent has been earmarked for this.

Raffle Baskets (J. Alefounder)

  • Jen went over plan

Bake Sale (J. Ellis)

  • Kindergarten room to be used again like last year.

  • Jeany went over her plan/numbers of volunteers, Grade 6’s can manage it.

  • Coffee - question of donation or make percolator coffee?

  • Last year’s efforts for donations provided a huge return.

  • Can we accept donations from local bakeries/cafes?

Bouncy Castles and Games
